After a very long, busy, humid, 94 degree day; I threw open the apartment complex door at 4:00pm, just excited to be home. I love being a nanny, but some days I’m exhausted, and today was definitely a day that tested my patience and strength. I walked to the mailboxes, expecting to find more envelopes from bill collectors, but to my surprise (and excitement) there was a big envelope addressed to me, from Jasmine Star; a photographer I thoroughly respect and admire! What was this package you ask? It was a copy of her magazine, “Exposed” where she talks in detail and honesty about her first two years as a photographer. 160 pages filled with her failures, heartbreaks, moments of glory and conquest….oh and tons of her photos! I ordered this last week and didn’t expect it so soon! Needless to say the plans of spending two hours at the gym were off, because I nuked my healthy choice meal, filled my bottle of water, cranked the AC and got comfy on the couch to start reading!
Here I am, on page 49 now and I already feel so connected with Jasmine. She has a wonderful way with words, and her personality just sparkles. I have laughed already at having made so many of the same mistakes in my own journey to become a photographer. I cannot wait to continue reading, and learn more about her and her struggles through her personal journey.
Although I am not in the wedding photography industry, I do feel she is an inspiration to me as I grow into who I become as a photographer. Her work portrays emotion, beauty and personality and is as amazing as she is. If you would like to check out her work, please visit her website! http://jasmine-star.com/
